Riccardo has been a big fan of the Japanese robot toys since he was a kid and his fascinations about traditional Japanese costume’s cut, shape & embroideries, and the famous dancer “Kazuo Ohno” as play a big part in this collection. I am just so glad he done it in the way it not just the predictable “Kimono sleeves” or “Obi” waist belt details.
Instead of traditional fast past fashion show that the models can just flashing by in a passage of seconds in front of all the fashion editors, Riccardo decided to show his couture collection with an all Asian model cast and just having the models standing there, like a hanger. By presenting the show this way, all the editors, photographers can truly enjoy and appreciated the workmanship & details of each dress. Take a look of the look # 2, the dress is made up of thousands of matte sequins, or to see the beadings on the pale lavender pleated dress on look # 3, the pearls are actually wrapped in georgette. Some of the garments took 2000 hours of cutting and 4000 hours of sewing to make, and that! Is what “Haute Couture” is all about! Crazily consuming details & making of each garment. Each piece is truly a piece of art.
